A new ecological breath of fresh air for Tignes

An internationally renowned resort at 2,100 metres above sea level, Tignes is among the Alps’ largest skiable areas, with more than 300 km of slopes. It is appreciated all year round, by a client base who is passionate about mountains and snow sports.

Committed to future generations, mayor Serge Revial, elected in June 2020, is working daily towards sustainable, responsible and luxury tourism.

Local to the area and as dynamic as his town, the mayor has been working alongside local businesses to implement his programme, whose central theme is the environment. “My goal is to make Tignes a virtuous resort in terms of ecology. I hope that in 2030 we will be able to offer a zero CO2 emission stay.”

To do this, a major energy renovation project for homes dating from the 70s and 80s is underway, accompanied by another major challenge: green mobility. “People need to be able to come to Tignes by electric train and our buses also need to run on electricity.” The resort’s snow groomers and buses have already been switched to vegetable oil and demonstrate a desire to reduce CO2 emissions and develop biofuels. ”The Haute Tarentaise’s local council community must be innovative in the development of hydrogen. I would like to prove to the sceptics that we can continue to welcome people into the mountains and preserve this eco-system, provided we prepare the transition properly.”

Tignes’ municipal team and the Vanoise National Park are working together in order to find solutions for sustainable tourism, especially with regards to the Grande Motte glacier.
This project, focussed on the future, is very important to Serge Revial, who wishes to guarantee a local life all year round, specifically by maintaining public services open.

The mayor is pleased to see his hotel offer expand with numerous top of the range establishments: the opening of the 5 star hotel “VoulezVous”, the creation of a number of luxury chalets like the Quézac or the “Black Diamond” residence, signed by the Les Etincelles group, but also with the arrival of a 4 Tridents and a 5 Tridents collection from Club Med.

Green and top of the range, Tignes is preparing for a bright future.
